The "I Am" Project collaborates with middle school teachers, physical education teachrs, guidance counselors, and school administrators, offering a class that incorporates breathing & meditation, mindful movements, and creative expression to grades 5-12 as an in-class alternative. The frequency of each class depends on the agreement with the school - ranging from once a week to once a month with additional lessons provided online, for the full length for the school year (10 months). Students learn to align with the rhythm of their own body through breathing exercises, meditation, basic age-appropriate mindful movements derived from physical fitness practices, and various forms of creative exrpession exercises. Every class foesters a supportive, non-competitve envrionment. They also get a chance to connnect with their emotions and basic needs and learn how to express them in healthy and productive ways. They also get a chance to move freely, breathe deeply and focus more fully, developping focus, calm, balance, mental clairty and emotional intelligence. The "I Am" Project classes are aligned with State Learning Standards for Physical Education in New York State, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
